420chan’s Store Opening For Pre-orders Tomorrow

I’m happy to announce that (barring any further complications) our internally run store will be slowly opening for public use sometime tomorrow. As there might be kinks here and there, we’re starting off with a small selection of items. There’s going to be more added over the next 2 weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

This was supposed to happen 2 nights ago, but there were some issues with shipping calculations and we ended up having to manually input various shipping scenarios dozens and dozens of times. Fun stuff.

Pre-orders are going to go on for a few weeks, and we plan to begin shipping items in early to mid-August.

We’re beginning with basic items, no smoking utensils as our current payment options do not allow them. Once the store is somewhat established, this will be possible.

420chan Firefox Extension Updated

Everyone on Firefox 3.5 can now use it fine. I took the opportunity to clean up a few bugs but there’s still some fixes eluding me – any Greasemonkey or jQuery users around to help me sort them out?

There’s a new function called the Discussion Map. This shows you every reply to a post. You’ll find the Reference links beside Quick Reply.

The extension now works under HTTPS. It’s been available for a while now, originally meant for staff purposes but is also used by some tinfoil hat wearing users.

There was another feature I was trying to work in for this release but unfortunately the original author of the script never tested it on 420chan, so I’m still debugging it myself.

Oh, those aforementioned bugs, I can’t figure out for the life of me how to make jQuery events fire outside of their normal scope – this is related to spoilers not working right in expanded threads.

New Board – CRY MOAR?

Okay so we’re pretty much fed up with the annoying relationship/LJ/bloggy shit being posted throughout the site. To combat the inevitable, we’ve made a board affectionately named “BBB” which stands for “baw blah blog”. This is where you can whine about your problems or just blab away about your life.

ANY threads deemed “LJ faggotry” belongs in the new board. If LJ subject matter is posted elsewhere, the post will be deleted and/or banned.

So the Site Broke for a Bit…

Goddamnit, can you guys like stop breaking the site? Lol.

Actually our drives filled up so Kirtaner had to purge a few folders. We’re absolutely spoiled with the box 420chan is currently on and shit still manages to break when we leave for a bit, sigh.

Everything should be fixed, if not, they will be within the next 30 minutes – 1 hour. If there’s anything else broken, report it here.

OH SHIT LIVE UPDATE: Several mods are currently rebuilding all boards so if one of your favorites is white, just give it a bit and it will be back to normal.

FAQ Explanation From a Magician

Since Kirtaner fails with basic communication skills unless they’re binary, in 1337, or have something to do with genitalia, I’ve finally gotten my own little account so that I can make proper blog posts with that little bit of detail you oh-so-crave.

Okay so let’s get on with it.  We’re going to be designing our own wiki style encyclopedia under the name “Taimapedia”.  This is for 420chan only. It’s kind of thrown together right now because Kirt has been very busy with the store and his own job IRL but expect there to be more and more changes in the coming weeks.

Taimapedia is a huge project. We’re still trying to see how we can design it so that it is multifunctional, can be updated by you guys and have the ability to add whatever the fuck we want. It’s an entire separate entity.

The links in general will be moved to Taimapedia and the link that’s currently there will be relabeled. The boards will either be moved elsewhere or they will have their own drop down menu. Each board will have a wiki on it, a FAQ on the subject matter if necessary, and an archives section.

It’ll be really cool, I promise. For now, you guys can take it upon yourselves to write up whatever you think would be appropriate for whichever board you want and then save it in some kind of file and get it to us via IRC or something.

This will all be written by you guys. Which is how it should be especially for some of you, you know your favorite board(s) better than we do.

I hope this clears up a lot of questions, I’ll be monitoring this particular blog post though and will be more than happy to answer any questions you guys might have.
